The Issue

As a Sefton resident, I am furious at dodging giant potholes on red roads daily, while our council hides catastrophic scandals. We are presently burdened with a £43 million price tag for the Strand asset, which investigations reveal is worth a mere £7 million, with suspect fraud allegations swirling. Meanwhile, Floral Hall was allocated a staggering £72 million for redevelopment, only to end in demolition, with no visible improvement and lingering questions over fund allocation.

Furthermore, the council's management of children's services is under intense scrutiny, with £2.5 million in loans every month, creating a worrying financial strain without adequate accountability or transparency. Governance issues have also come to light with vacant posts left unfilled, adding more questions to a growing list of unresolved matters.

Residents deserve answers, and the Sefton Council must be held accountable for its actions. We demand a full public town hall meeting before the upcoming election, where council leaders will be required to answer pressing questions regarding the Strand fraud, the Floral Hall financial debacle, and clandestine deals involving asset sales.

Additionally, we need a comprehensive forensic audit conducted on the council’s financial transactions to uncover any further inappropriate or illegal dealings and restore public trust.

Let’s urge our local leaders to stop these secretive and dubious practices. A transparent and honest governance is paramount to securing a future where the community’s needs are prioritized and respected. Please sign this petition to call for transparency, accountability, and a brighter future for all Sefton residents through a public town hall meeting and thorough forensic audit.
