As dedicated members of the Meat Department within Local 439, we have long valued the transparency and fairness with which our union has traditionally operated. However, recent developments regarding the representation of our department compel us to seek a new election to ensure our voices are heard and our rights upheld.
In recent months, numerous members have expressed dissatisfaction with the current shop steward election process. It is vital that those entrusted to represent us are not only qualified but also reflective of the collective will of the department's membership. To this end, we urge Local 439 leadership to consider holding a new election with particular attention to ensuring eligibility criteria are met.
We specifically request that Daniel Monzo, a respected and active member of our department, be allowed to run for the position of shop steward, provided he meets all existing eligibility requirements established by Local 439. Daniel embodies the integrity and commitment we believe are essential in a representative, and it is imperative that we have the opportunity to choose freely and fairly our departmental advocate.
Our request is not solely to benefit an individual but to reinforce the democratic principles that form the foundation of our union. Ensuring that the election process is transparent and equitable will benefit all members, fostering trust and solidarity in times when collective bargaining and representation are more crucial than ever.
