Not letting the OA’s play in their final year is causing mental health across the league and province. As players we sat in this pandemic and struggled with being stuck at home. We all kept our heads up in hopes of hockeys return, the only thing keeping many of us mentally sane. Now with the announcement coming that the OHF and hockey Canada denied our proposal to play next year after missing this year it’s causing a province wide issue in mental health. Since we were kids we always wondered what our last game would feel like. What it would feel like to look at a family of 21 players and many staff members and think wow I’m really not coming back I’m done. But none of us pictured having to end our careers in a pandemic.
