Protection of native and endangered Tasmanian animals. Build a fence!
The issue
Native and endangered species of Tasmania are being killed every day along the East Derwent Highway due to lack of barriers and protective fencing.
Every single day on my way to work I am faced with the grim sight of dead animals - guts on display. Mostly these animals are possums or wallabies but I've encountered dead quolls, kanagroos, bandicoots and even our beautiful Tassie Devils. Every day there are fresh bodies on our roads. This number is rising and accumulating! Even if we average 2 bodies a day, this means over 700 animals taken by motorists every year! Let's help keep our animals and motorists safe.
I would like to see some sort of fence erected to help keep our animals and drivers safe. To reduce roadkill numbers and conserve our wildlife.
