A GSA at our middle school

A GSA at our middle school
The Issue
Dear Berkeley County School District,
Many kids at our school do not feel safe around many kids, because they are constantly being judged for being themselves. This goes with bullying, rapeing, and sexual harassment; many kids in the LGBTQQIAA+ community are bullied and treated like they are not human.
Our goal is to start a gay-straight alliance at our school or GSA for short. We want to educate these Trump-supporting, conservative Christians at our school to be more supportive and be allied with us. We want to be treated equally. And we are not trying to turn people gay we just want them to back off and talk to us like we're humans again. Because many kids such as ourselves identify in the LGBTQQIAA+ community and can't proudly tell people our sexual orientations or gender identities without getting hackeled or picked on.
We can simply meet in a classroom twice a week in the morning to discuss the importance of gay, bi, trans, pan, non-binary, etc. rights and kindness. Meeting on Tuesdays and Fridays each week for an hour and a half can make us feel accepted in this school's toxic environment.
Sincerely,
HMS students.
