Early Pension for over 60's if you hand over your job to a youngster

The Issue

Given the looming economic downturn due to Covid-19 and the predicted job losses especially within the younger generation if HM Government introduced a scheme whereby over 60's were given their full pension entitlement provided they were prepared to retire early and give their job to a younger person.

Many over 60's are staying in their jobs as without the state pension their private pension entitlement does not pay enough to get by. Many younger people with families, mortgages etc will be losing their jobs due to the economic downturn.

If the over 60's could trade their job to receive their state pension entitlement earlier than expected then it could free up job opportunities for people who possibly need it more. So often people stay in their jobs waiting to get to the age when they qualify for the state pension blocking promotion and job opportunities for younger workers. Now might be the time to change this and could give a financial benefit to the state which could bear the burden of the unemployment of younger people.
