Hire dedicated paraprofessionals for Cambridge Elementary School
The Issue
As a concerned parent in the South Brunswick Township, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges that my child and their peers face in large K-3 classrooms at Cambridge Elementary School. With classrooms swelling over 25 students, it's increasingly difficult for young children to concentrate and thrive. Our children have voiced their struggles - complaining about the noise, disruptions, and feeling overstimulated by the crowded environment.
Young minds are at a critical stage of development in these early years, and it's imperative that they receive the individualized attention they deserve. The presence of dedicated paraprofessionals in each classroom is essential. Paraprofessionals offer crucial support to classroom teachers by working with small groups or individual students, allowing for differentiated and personalized instruction.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, research shows that smaller class sizes and additional classroom support significantly enhance student learning outcomes, especially in early grades. Paraprofessionals can help bridge the gap by providing the necessary attention and support to each student, ensuring no child is left behind.
Our request is not just about improving academic performance, but also about creating a supportive and nurturing environment where our children feel safe and engaged. By hiring dedicated paraprofessionals for each K-3 classroom, we can address the overstimulation and help reduce classroom disruptions, allowing each child to reach their full potential.
We ask the South Brunswick School District to take immediate action to prioritize the hiring of paraprofessionals for Cambridge Elementary. Investing in our children's future is investing in the future of our community.
Please sign this petition to urge the South Brunswick School District to support our youngest learners by providing the necessary resources they need to prosper and excel in their educational journey. Together, we can make a difference.
