First off, I would like to thank Coach Jones for a wonderful tenure as Athletic Director at Tivy. I enjoyed going to practice every day, and we had tremendous success while I played football at Tivy. His retirement is well-deserved, and he should be thanked by the community!

With Coach Jones retiring, there will be candidates lining up out the door to take over the program. As a former player at Tivy from 2012 to 2016, there is no better person for the job than the hardest-working person I have ever met, Coach Jeremy Hickman. I experienced firsthand the passion and dedication of Coach Hickman. As the defensive coordinator, he was the heart and soul of our program and a genuine advocate for his players. His influence extended beyond the gridiron and made a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes, myself included. Any of his former players can reach out to him at any hour of the day, and he will get back to you. He truly loves his players like “his only sons.” 

Coach Hickman displayed an unwavering commitment that was reflected in our team's performance. Under his leadership, the “Blue Swarm” would constantly be tougher and better than our opponents, leading to many memorable victories! My senior year we were the last team to finish as the regular season undefeated since the early 2000s. The years when Coach Hickman was the defensive coordinator were some of the most successful in recent years for Tivy Football. 

It is this kind of track record and leadership that are needed in a head coach. We need a leader who is not just well-versed with team management, gameplay, and strategy, but also someone who deeply cares about the players and the community of Kerrville. For these reasons, we believe that Coach Hickman is the perfect candidate for the position of Tivy Football's next head coach. 

Ensuring Coach Hickman gets this promotion would preserve the Tivy Football legacy, and he can take the Antlers to even greater heights. It's time that we acknowledge and reward his commitment to Kerrville, the sport, and the players.
