Hindus Were Told a Lie: Demand Apology for Stopping Shankaracharya in Prayagraj
The Issue
The Issue
On17th January 2026 Mauni Amavasya at Prayagraj, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati was stopped from performing Sangam Snan, citing “protocol” and “crowd risk.”
Within hours, at the same Sangam location, other large religious processions were facilitated by the administration.
What followed has raised serious concerns among devotees: Shankaracharya was isolated by unidentified personnel, his disciples—including minors and elderly devotees—were allegedly beaten, and sacred religious symbols were disturbed.
This petition seeks truth, dignity, and accountability.
Why This Matters
Shankaracharya is not a political figure. He is the head of a 2,500-year-old Hindu spiritual tradition that stands above governments and parties.
Shankaracharya himself has stated that this was the first time in 25 years he was left completely alone and surrounded by personnel not in uniform, without being told where he was being taken.
Multiple videos show:
1) No crowd at key moments when “crowd risk” was cited
Other religious processions allowed at the same location. Police making false claims
2) Young brahmacharis, elderly devotees, women, and even a 12-year-old initiated Dandi Sannyasi allegedly assaulted
Sacred symbols such as the chatra, dand, and khadau disturbed or broken
These facts contradict the official narrative presented to the public.
This is not about hatred or division.
It is about equal treatment, truth, and respect for Dharma.
Our Demand
We demand a public apology and accountability from the Uttar Pradesh administration for the treatment of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and his disciples at Prayagraj.
We call upon Sanatani Hindus across India and the world to stand together and affirm that such treatment of spiritual leaders and devotees is unacceptable.
Supporting videos
1) Shankaracharya taken to an unknown place in Sangam and ill treated
2) Media running away when questioned about why Shankaracharya was ill treated
3) Other religious processions allowed at the same location. Police making false claims
4) Full story shared of what happened.
