Hello Everyone!
Thank you for your constant support and the motivation that I get everyday to keep fighting for this cause.
I offer my deepest gratitude to Prof M.V. Rajeev Gowda for taking note of the petition and responding to it. It is indeed great to know that pad vending machine installation is part of their Congress Manifesto. Let us also inspire other leaders as well to take such initiatives.
Last one month has been hectic with a lot of new experiences. I was in Majuli Island, Assam which is the world’s largest river island and we with a bunch of young women celebrated World Health Day on 7th of April where we talked about menstrual health. It was overwhelming to know the stigmas attached with menstruation and people’s beliefs. According to one of the participants, the discourse on menstruation has shifted from one that was concerned with women’s health to that of concerns related to purity and impurity.
I am excited to share that #BleedwithDignity Campaign in collaboration with Parijat Academy run by Uttam Teron and Aimoni Teron is celebrating World Menstrual Hygiene Day which is on 28th of May, 2019 and on 27th of May we will be creating a wall art on that theme. I can’t wait to share with you more details!
But today was not like any other ordinary day. Today I managed to meet one of my Decision Makers, the Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), IAS Debeshwar Malakar to invite him to grace us with his presence on the 27th and inaugurate the wall. AND guess what he not only appreciated the petition, the support it has received but also accepted the invitation! As a layman, I never imagined that it would be this convenient to meet an IAS officer and discuss a topic that we all here deeply feel about.
I will be soon sharing more details and keep you all updated about the upcoming activities.
I am thrilled! Are you?
