I stayed at the Hilton Newport in Wales. The hotel has no safes in their rooms. I returned to the hotel one evening to find that my room had been breached and bolted from the inside such that a member of the hotel staff had to come cut the bolt before I could enter my room. I lost all my valuables including my international passport, chequebook, laptop, ipad, books, manuals and cash. Beyond reporting to the Police, the hotel did not as much as ask if they could help in any way towards my struggle to get a travel document that I can use to return to my home country. Several emails by me and other friends that were in the group that stayed at the hotel to senior management of Hilton worldwide have been completely ignored. I ask whether this is because I am a foreigner from an African nation.
