The Overland Park Arboretum is not the only place in Kansas City with inappropriate sculptures. 

Highwoods Properties (the company that owns, leases and manages the Country Club Plaza) is allowing several inappropriate sculptures on the Country Club Plaza. The sculptures (shown above) show women with their breasts or entire bodies exposed.

The message this piece sends to the children and young adults in our community has the potential to be destructive. With all the problems we are having with sexting in our youth culture, do we really want to be encouraging children and teenagers to see these sculptures? In addition, there is no warning of these sculptures' offensive nature for parents, teachers, and adults wishing to avoid something like this.

The audience at the Country Club Plaza is not the appropriate audience for these pieces of art. These pieces are too mature for young eyes, and do not belong in a shopping area where children frequently visit.

By signing this petition, we are asking Highwood Properties and the Mayor of Kansas City to remove this sculpture from the Country Club Plaza.  Art of this nature does not belong around children.
