The first Agricultural University was established in 1960 on State Agricultural Farm Phoolbagh, District Nanital near Rudrapur ( now District Udham Singh Nagar) as University was named as U.P. Agricultural University which is now G.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology. This university played a very important role in the Green Revolution of the country. Its students and staff played important role in the country's development and held & are holding important positions in India & other countries due to their capabilities. Several students and staff members worked in several International institutions and several of them are still working and providing contributions for the developments of various countries of the world. Some students had archived prestigious awards like PadamShri for their contribution in their respective fields.
I feel that this university should have been made the Central University from the beginning but so far the contributions of the students & staff have not been recognized whereas several Agricultural Universities have been given the status of Central University. The recent in list is Rajenndra Prasad university in Bihar. It is high time when we all should strive to achieve the status of Central University to our Alma Mater.
I request all the people associated with G.B.Pant University of Agril. & Tech, Pantnagar, Udhamsingh Nagar, Uttarakhand, to make effort to achieve the status of Central University.Please support all if you agree with this.
