In America, over 1.5 shelter animals are euthanized each year according to ASPCA.org. To be specific, about 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats are put to sleep each year in The United States alone. Although the euthanization rates have declined in the last few years, that’s not good enough. An animal should only be euthanized when absolutely necessary. There are many people willing to take in animals in need, but the animal's time to be found by those people is limited when put on the euthanization list. 

To affect change, sign this petition, speak with your local representatives, volunteer in your community with different organizations or animal shelters, donate supplies or money, become a dog or cat foster parent, or even adopt a furry or furless friend. When animal shelters receive donations, depending on the amount, they are able to obtain more of the resources needed to take in animals. When you foster or adopt a dog or cat, the shelter is able to take in another animal in need, possibly saving its life.
