HHGregg, Before Opening Stores, There are things customers need.
The Issue
HHGregg, Inc is a privately owned and operated retailer of consumer electronics & home appliances that went bankrupt in early 2017 but was purchased by Valor, LLC for $400,000 USD. Before bankruptcy however, The company did things both good and bad for example(Good: Selling consoles, giving deals to more and more customers, Bad: Credit Cards, No Price Matching) and if this new HHGregg wants to show us "Why should we shop at your stores" here are some things you need to do or fix.
- Selling Video Game Console & Games
- Pro- selling games at low prices and having bundles or consoles themselves at lower prices than Walmart, Target, etc gave people reasons to shop at your stores for gaming and you need to bring the latest consoles to hhgregg(Nintendo Switch, PS4 family, Xbox One family, PC Gaming & more) and that would bring a large amount of customer to you.
- Con- Playstation, Nintendo, etc may not directly sell the consoles to hhgregg: If you use the wayback machine or remember when the old hhgregg existed and you looked on the Playstation, Nintendo & Xbox websites, you wouldn't see hhgregg buttons or acknowledgement on their site, so hhgregg must have used a form or partnered supplier or partner connected with these companies to sell the products previously listed. Meaning that similar to what Gamestop does, create their own bundles at a great price.
- Creating a Price Matching Guarantee
- Pro- If hhgregg creates a price matching policy, which was a problem that caused their demise was having no price matching policies(which caused stigma between customers) consumers would be more likely to shop at hhgregg than at any other store.
- Con- Employees must beat online & brick & mortar competitors: Since Price Matching would exist, this would force employees to check with stores(Online & B&M's)[ie: Target, Walmart, GameStop/EB Games, Amazon.com] and would make sure that your employee's computers check Amazon and competitors websites & ads, and make sure that you can keep the customers happy.
- Dumping the Credit Card, Replace it with rewards program.
- Pro- Making a rewards program would bring customer loyalty and in return give them access to special perks similar to what your credit card or what competitor Target with their RedCard is doing. Do things like "5% off in-store purchases everyday & 2% online"(just some examples, customers & fans want this!) and let customers save at your stores even more!(bring more customer loyalty).
- Con- Cuts out the middle man: Removing the Credit Card(which not enough people used) would cut out some peoples chances of paying low priced products later, unless you create a form of Layaway program.
- Better Advertising
- Pro- Gives Customers Reasons for shopping at your store: Your advertisements, both online, in-store & in weekly ads should show people things like "Price Matching" or "HHGregg Rewards!" as people would be interested in buying stuff with ads like those listed at the ends of your commercials with your mascot and employees in them and at the end mentioning rewards program or price matching than what old hhgregg has done before.
If hhgregg welcomes these amazing ideas with warm, money-saving hands, this could not just bring back old customers but, expand customer loyalty & support for years to come.
