Hate Crime Law for South Carolina

The Issue

Hate Crimes are on the rise inside of our great state of South Carolina!  From the large occurrences such as Charleston Church Shootings to local issues with hate speech and threats to our children it is time to demand a Hate Crime Law Passed.  46 States outside of South Carolina already have statutes criminalizing various types of bias-motivated violence & intimidation of minorities.  However, South Carolina has continued to decline the protection of African Americans & other minorities by passing laws that prevent the allowance of any hate towards our citizens.  We elect individuals to protect and serve everyone in our nation equally, and without a Hate Crime law and statutes it has shown that who we elect for years are more willing to put at risk more Hate being allowed towards minorities than at State levels providing the protection needed legally to deter by putting in place statutes and laws that are needed.  Recently the injustice of George Floyd and others across the nation show that even in positions of power racial hatred has been allowed and swept under the rug.  Any government official that cannot or is not willing to pass laws to protect us from racial injustice is silently allowing racial injustice to exist.  If this isn't addressed in our great state, what are we truly great at protecting?

We demand our state put in place the correct hate crime laws and statutes to protect African Americans and other minorities like 46 other states have already understood are needed to truly be one nation for all citizens!
