Addison Graves "Joe" Wilson Sr. is a seasoned American politician, lawyer, and military officer serving as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 2nd congressional district since 2001. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, Wilson's district extends from Columbia to the Georgia–South Carolina border. Prior to his congressional role, he served as a South Carolina state senator for the 23rd district from 1985 to 2001. His extensive career in public service includes roles such as Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Energy, Attorney and Legislative Aide for Senator Strom Thurmond and Congressman Floyd Spence, and Colonel in the US Army Reserves and South Carolina Army National Guard. Wilson holds a Bachelor's degree from Washington and Lee University and a JD from the University of South Carolina.
