Allow Concealed Carry in SC Churches

The Issue

Given the horrific recent events around the country in the past years, we the people of the state of South Carolina need to be lawfully allowed to carry concealed weapons into places of worship.  It should be our right to defend ourselves in our respective places of worship in the event of an act of terror.

South Carolina law allows concealed carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, the general public, and state parks.  It is explicitly mentioned that churches or other established religious sanctuary is OFF LIMITS.  This needs to change!

With the most recent shooting in White Settlement in Texas, it is apparent that the state law in Texas allowing concealed carry into places of worship is proven to be effective.  This horrible event could have been far more catastrophic if they were not allowed to lawfully carry.  How many more church shootings need to happen around the country before our government takes action?

We ask you Governor McMaster to work with your respective parties to bring this dire need into law as soon as possible.  If there are any fast tracks on signing this into law, we ask that you make this a priority.  It is important that we feel safe in our places of worship, and being able to protect not only ourselves but those around us is paramount for this being a success.
