The Issue

Montura Ranch Estates has long been known for its beautiful landscape, rural location and its proximity to recreational activities. For Decades one Montura Ranch Estates main attractions has been the recreational access for the residents to its Reservoir, controlled maintained and controlled by CCWCD. This past Year this access has been denied, the reservoir has been closed to recreational actives, ATV/OHV use and little to no options were given to the our residents.

With the closure of the Montura Ranch Estates reservoir, the residents have continued to seek alternatives to ATV/OHV use and have been met with harsh and strict enforcement of a "NO ATV or ATV BAN" law enforced by Hendry County Sheriffs Dept. the Sheriffs seem to be indiscriminately treating those on ATV's as common criminals. This type of enforcement has been a burden on the residents who rely on ATV/OHV's and also to those who have for decades enjoyed this type of recreation at Montura with family and friends.

ATV's, UTV, Buggies and Golf Cart use should not be treated as a crime, they have been commonplace in Montura Ranch Estates and many rural communities for decades, they have many functions, from family recreation to farm use, they are seemingly a part of the rural lifestyle. To take away a communities rights, literally overnight, without alternative or compromise is unjust and lends itself unnecessary incivility and conflict. Lets restore those undoubtable rights, lets work together for a common solution.
