Expansion of John F. Kennedy Skate Park

Expansion of John F. Kennedy Skate Park
The Issue
John F. Kennedy Skate Park is the only skatepark in Hempstead, Long Island. The size of the park is pretty small considering the amount of people that go on a nice day. It can get hectic and sometimes very difficult to have fun without bumping into anyone and causing harm.
It is overall a very decent park but due to its size a lot of people turn it down since it gets very crowded. There’s simply not enough space for some beginners who have just started skateboarding and would like some space to enjoy themselves. There are no bowls so ramp skaters are stuck skating in a half pipe. It can be difficult doing tricks without someone either getting in the way or someone getting hurt. Specifically children, kids like having fun and enjoying the small obstacles. We don’t blame them but at times there’s not enough room. Children can end up getting hurt by getting in the way of people doing their tricks. Adding obstacles (ex: Stairs, Hand rails, Drops, etc) would make a great addition as well for some beginners and intermediate skaters.
Overall, very good skatepark with a lot of potential. Skaters as a community would like to see that potential turn into something great. An expansion to the park would be an excellent improvement to the skatepark. To some of us even the only skatepark near by. Much respect to Hempstead to providing us a park in the first place. Thanks for reading.
