The Issue

Graduation is a key in forming an individuals life long career journey. We can all agree that without a high school diploma life can become a difficult search for lifelong jobs that may not pay as much or last as long as careers.

Some high school students are not provided with the right information of which is needed to graduate. Sure, the main question may be, why are the graduation rates not as high as pictured? This is important to think about but in order to fix these numbers we must break it down and look closely.

For us to single in on how we can help graduation rates let's further inspect students'mental health. We can help students mental health by offering support services, specifically training staff and administration to be accumulated to these signs of distress, and we can ensure counseling sessions and therapy sessions are accessible for students in need of them.

There are many laws regarding how education should make sure to take care of their students mental health. These laws are real and open for you to read and learn about them but for some reason not all schools are abiding by these laws. In the South Carolina State Laws number 59-18-310 mentions how the State Board of Education should continuously check in on schools, students, and districts to see if they need additional support. You can help us in our journey by listening to these laws, spreading their word, and providing or speaking about what resources should be used for students struggling under mental health. Help us raise awareness of how students should be given the correct resources to graduate!

Governor McMaster if you see this we are hoping that you closely listen to these laws and think about your recent decisions. We hope you help provide for students struggling with mental health as listed above. Thank you in advance!
