Currently, we have about 950 slips in our harbor, with only 10% of those occupied by liveaboards. As concerned boaters and avid boating lifestyle supporters, we propose a modest increase of 5% in the number of liveaboard slips available. By doing so, we can help increase the security of our boats while addressing a significant portion of the waiting list, accounting for approximately 43% of the current demand, comprised of current slip renters and frequent presences at the harbor. 
The increased amount would mean approximately 45 new liveaboards, with minimum risks and impact in the restrooms, laundries, and parking lots. It's measurable and doable.

By allowing more liveaboards in our harbor, we can improve security measures and enhance the overall safety of the area. Monitoring and identifying potential safety hazards and security threats will be easier with more eyes and ears on the docks. Additionally, having a larger liveaboard community in the harbor will increase residents' sense of responsibility and accountability, leading to a safer and more secure environment.

Moreover, increasing the number of liveaboards in the harbor can bring positive economic benefits to the city and the local community. Liveaboards require various services and goods, including fuel, food, and repairs, which local businesses can provide. This can create new job opportunities and boost the local economy.
