Help us Relocate the Proposed Mobile Phone Tower in Ramelgh Springs Housing Estate!

The issue

We, the residents of the Ramlegh Springs estate in Clyde North, are deeply concerned about the proposed construction of a mobile phone tower in our housing estate. The tower is planned to be erected alarmingly close to our homes. This issue is personal for us as we live within close proximity to the proposed site. The construction will not only devalue our homes significantly but also pose potential long-term health risks due to constant exposure.

The potential health risks associated with living in close proximity to mobile phone towers have been widely documented. According to research published by BioInitiative (2012) and updated with further 2022 results, the long-term exposure to electromagnetic fields from such towers can lead to harmful effects on human health including sleep disturbances, headaches, depression, decreased memory performance, cancer, among other.

Moreover, there is also an economic concern tied up with this issue. The presence of such structures can negatively impact property values due its perceived health risks (Knight Frank Research Report 2018). This could devalue our properties significantly. Furthermore, according to a recent study, properties located near cell towers often experience a drop in value by up to 20% (Source: https://eprints.qut.edu.au/223171/

A neighboring estate successfully petitioned against a similar construction citing property devaluation as one of their main concerns. Like them, we too paid a premium for land opposite the creek and wetlands, cherishing its natural beauty and tranquility. Now, this telecommunications tower threatens to disrupt that peace and lower our property values.

We believe that it's crucial for us as a community to stand against this proposal for the sake of our children's health and safety as well as for preserving the value of our homes. Therefore, we urge everyone who cares about these issues - whether you're a resident or not - please sign this petition and help us relocate the mobile phone tower construction proposed on Heather Grove in Ramelgh Springs estate!
