Help us regain our #GUTSWorldTourManila tickets that SM took away from us

The Issue

SM Tickets, without any prior notice, took away the ticket vouchers that were secured by over 100 individuals last September 15 (10:00am - 10:30am) for Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS WORLD TOUR: Manila Silver Star Show. Upon confirming with their customer care, our accounts were suddenly tagged as accounts with “suspicious activities” or “questionable activities” during the purchase, thus relinquishing our vouchers and refusing to disclose what made our accounts suspicious.

Meanwhile, those who purchased on the same day, September 15, but (1) before 10:00am and (2) after 10:30am were not affected and still possess their vouchers. There was no prior confirmation nor announcement from the organizers on a definite closing time of online ticket sales. This deems the sales on September 15 legitimate.

Amidst the influx of scalpers rampantly selling tickets online, it was only us, legitimate buyers, who were affected and were forced by SM Tickets to accept a refund for our ticket vouchers, which we have worked hard to purchase, along with other fans who wish to see Olivia Rodrigo. We have the transaction receipts to prove our claim.

Up to now, SM Tickets has not given us sufficient explanation nor proof as to why our accounts were falsely tagged as “suspicious”. We were also not granted a chance to negate the claim before they took swift action. We find it unacceptable that this false accusation was deemed sufficient for SM to enact an undeserved penalty to us.

As for Live Nation Philippines, we tried to reach out for help but they only gave us the cold shoulder and pushed liability on their ticket partner, SM Tickets, despite being the main organizer of this concert. It is clear that both organizations do not want to take responsibility for the grave inconvenience they caused to their fellow Filipino concert-goers who wanted their ticket vouchers replaced or returned.

With the amount of those who were affected due to their incompetence, we have filed formal complaints with DTI who is now currently looking into the matter. Following this, we, legitimate consumers who have been wronged by their company, demand SM Tickets to release the tickets we have paid for.

We ask for additional support for not only those who lost their tickets like us, but also for those individuals who were victims of the inconvenience and grievances that SM Tickets caused during past concerts, to avoid similar circumstances happening in the future. All fans deserve an enjoyable concert experience; no company has the right to deprive anyone of that.
