Help us protect Helston Fairground Car Park & make sure our community’s voice is heard

This petition calls on Cornwall Council to listen to the concerns of residents, businesses & visitors about the introduction of parking charges at Helston Fairground Car Park. We are asking Cornwall Council to bring this issue before Full Council in September for an open & transparent debate, giving local residents, businesses & Cornwall Councillors the opportunity to have their voices heard.

This isn’t just about a car park. It’s about the impact these charges are having on our town, our local economy & the people who rely on this important community facility.

Local businesses are reporting reduced footfall. Residents are experiencing increased parking pressures in surrounding streets. For some people, including those with health challenges or mobility issues, the charges are making it harder to access the area.

Cornwall Council has said it will review the situation, but our community shouldn’t be expected to wait while the impact continues. This issue deserves to be debated in public now, not months down the line.

We also want to make one thing absolutely clear. Vandalism, criminal damage isn’t the answer.
Damaging ticket machines or council property only distracts from the real issue & risks undermining the genuine concerns of thousands of residents. This campaign is about standing together, making our voices heard through democratic means & showing Cornwall Council the strength of public feeling.

Under Cornwall Council’s own Petition Scheme, a petition that reaches 5,000 signatures & relates to a Cornwall wide issue can be considered for debate at a Full Council meeting.

Our last petition came frustratingly close. This time, let’s make sure we get there.
