Change the ordinance to allow Urban Chickens within the City of Warroad
The Issue
We believe that there has never been a more important time in our history to be conscientious of self-sustainability. Allowing chickens, (laying hens only) within the City of Warroad would give residents the opportunity to provide their own source of protein and nutrition especially during times where food shortage is a real possibility. Other benefits of raising chickens include teaching children where their food comes from, responsibility, and caring for a living animal. While our lives are spent more at home, keeping chickens is an entertaining alternative to owning dogs and cats, and under proper care can provide hours of soothing entertainment. With proper city ordinances in place, we believe that chickens within the City of Warroad will not only enrich our community, but allow us to be proactive in providing for ourselves. We ask that our fellow community members get on board with us and sign a petition to allow Urban Chickens as the newest pet and hobby for the citizens.
