We can no longer deny the devastating impact waste has on our oceans. It is estimated that around 8 million metric tons of plastic waste enters the world's oceans every year, causing irrevocable harm to marine life and ecosystems (Source: Jambeck et al., 2015). Karachi, being one of the largest coastal cities in the world, has a unique opportunity to lead the fight against ocean pollution. This petition calls for the establishment of a comprehensive ocean cleanup and recycling program in Karachi. This will involve the placement of labeled and colored bins along coastlines and heavily fished areas, with instructions in both English and Urdu. These bins will facilitate proper segregation of waste, which can then be composted or recycled by the respective companies. Such a system will not only clean our oceans but will also promote recycling and waste reduction in our communities. It's time to protect our oceans, our wildlife, and our future generations.
