The issue

Help us create a dog park at Fairway Reserve, Frankston

If you live around Fairway Street, you’ll know the large open grassed area called Fairway Reserve. It’s a great piece of open space, but right now there isn’t much there to encourage the local community to use it.

We’d love to see it become a dedicated dog park for our neighbourhood.

A well-designed dog park could give local dogs a safe, enclosed place to run and play off-lead, while also creating a welcoming place for neighbours to meet and spend time outdoors.

There’s plenty of opportunity for the space to remain green and open, with things like additional trees and shade, seating, drinking water, bins and thoughtful landscaping incorporated into the design.

Frankston’s Community Vision 2040 talks about creating healthy and inclusive communities, protecting our natural environment and creating welcoming, accessible and connected public spaces. A community dog park could be a simple way to bring those ideas to life in our neighbourhood.

We’re asking Frankston City Council to investigate creating a dedicated dog park at the Fairway Reserve on Fairway Street.

If you’d love to have a safe, local place for dogs to exercise and socialise — or simply think this open space could be put to better use — please add your name and help us show Council there’s community support for the idea.
