Governor Glen Youngkin has put a guideline to the VA board of education that would make it illegal for trans kids to use the bathroom in peace. This requires a full CRIMINAL background check, consent from the parents -not the child- and paperwork in order to use a bathroom in school that isn't the same as their gender assigned at birth. This is an attack on our rights and privacy, and we need your help to stop this from going into effect.

The bill would require students to use the bathroom corresponding with their assigned gender at birth, regardless of how they identify now. It also makes it illegal for teachers or school staff to not inform parents if their child is transgender, no matter the situation the child is in.

This law would put trans kids at risk of being outed against their will and could be used as a weapon against us by our peers or teachers who are bigots. It could also be used as an excuse for other students to harass us in bathrooms, knowing that there's nothing we can do about it because we're breaking the law by being there in the first place. This law is dangerous and unnecessary, and needs to be stopped before it passes any further than just this one state house!
