Yesterday, we honored the children and Survivors of residential schools, and institutions across Canada spoke about truth, accountability, and reconciliation.
Today — October 1st — I was informed by the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute (MPPI) that planner John Wintrup has been granted an additional 30 business days to respond to my complaint.
This is not just paperwork. My complaint addresses acts of cultural genocide. Yet the very next day after Truth and Reconciliation, MPPI chose to delay accountability once again.
I have also raised serious concerns about MPPI’s own Executive Director, Geoff Powell, who has acted as a gatekeeper to my file and breached my privacy — yet he continues to correspond with me about this process, despite my repeated requests for an impartial delegated contact.
Every delay is not neutral. Delay is harm. Delay is erasure. Delay tells Indigenous peoples that our truths can be pushed aside.
I will not stop calling for justice — for the land, for Lemay Forest, for our children, and for our communities. But I need your voices too. Please continue to stand with me by sharing this petition, raising awareness, and reminding MPPI that reconciliation is not words. Reconciliation is timely action.
With gratitude,
