You Can Help Sonia Sotomayor   :)

The Friday before last, crowds gathered for “Justice Matters: A Discussion on the Nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States,” a panel discussion hosted by Hispanics for a Fair Judiciary (HFJ) about Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination and the impact of the federal judiciary on the Latino community. MALDEF joined HJF, HNBA Southern California Region, and the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA), as co-hosts of the panel that was presented at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Annual Conference in Hollywood, CA.

Though many have already expressed their support for Judge Sotomayor, with the hearings less than two weeks away, it is crucial that you call your Senators and encourage them to support Judge Sotomayor. The facts are clear – Judge Sotomayor was a tough and effective New York City prosecutor, putting hardened criminals behind bars. She was a district court judge for six years and for the past eleven years, she’s been a federal appeals court judge. She has more experience serving as a federal judge than anyone nominated to the Supreme Court in the last 100 years. She needs your support and actions now – use our advocacy toolkit to contact your Senators and express your support for the Judge.
