Rachel and Chad Hatt were approached by the police to remove the shoes on the shoe tree within 2 weeks. They cited 2 neighbor complaints. The community has supported this memorial to Rachel's father who passed away several years ago and was loved by many in the community. The Cheboygan Tribune also interviewed the Hatts and wrote a lovely article about the tree and it's reason for being. We want to show that the support of the many far outweighs the dislike from the few. In the event that the city ordinance holds the weight to bring the tree down, we want to hold the weight to overturn the decision by showing our support and admiration for this memorial that the public has always been welcomed and encouraged to take part in building with the Hatts.
