Imagine being woken up night after night by the sound of car horns—except it’s not traffic. It’s a fleet of driverless Waymo cars honking at each other in the middle of the night, just outside your home.

That’s what residents near a Waymo lot in San Francisco have been living through. People report being jolted awake at random hours—sometimes at 4 a.m.—by self-driving cars that appear confused and start honking endlessly. For some, it’s the worst sleep disruption they’ve faced in decades.

Waymo says they’ve identified the problem and are working on a fix—but in the meantime, real people are losing sleep, peace of mind, and quality of life. That’s not right.

We’re asking Waymo to do more than patch a software bug. They need to stop the honking immediately, relocate noisy test operations away from residential neighborhoods, and commit to transparent policies that protect communities.
