Help secure passage of E-Verify Legislation in Rhode Island.

Help secure passage of E-Verify Legislation in Rhode Island.

The Issue

It is time for E-Verify legislation to be passed for the good of Rhode Island's citizens.  E-Verify is a system used to determine if an individual applying for work is in the U.S. legally and is eligible to work here.   The intent of this legislation is to keep Illegal Aliens from taking jobs from our citizens and aiding their ability to stay here illegally.  To allow them to continue doing so would be just plain HOGWASH!

Senate Bills S 337 and S 345 and House Bill H 5312 are Bills that will require Rhode Island employers to use the E-Verify program and help deny work to illegal aliens.  On May 26, 2011 the Supreme Court Of  The United States ruled that Arizona’s law mandating the use of E-Verify is constitutional.  To not pass these bills for the good of Rhode Island and our nation would be just plain HOGWASH!

America’s immigration laws provide many opportunities for people around the world to apply for permanent residency here or for temporary work, travel, educational or humanitarian visas.  Our laws, like those of most nations, also reflect the reality that it is not reasonable have open borders.  No country could ever sustain its sovereignty or identity, or be able to protect its citizens, with open borders.  To propose or to support open borders would be just plain HOGWASH!

Please sign this petition which will be sent to Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed, Senate Majority Leader Dominic Ruggerio, House Speaker Gordon D. Fox, and House Majority Leader Nicholas A. Mattiello.  It will tell these powerful officials to free Senate Bills S 337 & S 345 from the Senate Judiciary Committee and House Bill H 5312 from the House Labor Committee and get them to the Senate floor for a vote with a strong recommendation for passage with a strong recommendation for passage.  Not to do so would be just plain HOGWASH!
