Save the Port Washington Waterfront

Save the Port Washington Waterfront

The Issue

Port Washington deserves a vibrant and public waterfront with access to its residents. A waterfront that supports the people of the community as well as developers along Lower Main Street.

The Waterfront Business District (Louie’s, Inspiration Wharf, Sweet Treats, LaParma, Manhasset Bay Yacht Club) is currently undergoing a rezoning. BEWARE of the Waterfront redevelopment plans the Town Board may approve. The proposed code allows for 3-story structures, 200+ private condo units, hundreds more cars, noise, congestion, and safety risks, including flooding and environmental issues. Sadly there will be NO Inspiration Wharf as we know it today- the opportunity to look out at the iconic PW sunset or catch sight of the sun's rays reflecting on the water off our beautiful harbor.

The Board of the TONH has set the date of 9/10/20 to vote to extend the Waterfront Business District’s development code for 30 days.

WHAT CAN RESIDENTS DO?

Demand that the Town Steering Committee reconvene, so that the public can have a voice in improving the code.

Attend the live broadcast meeting on 9/10 at 7pm on the Town's website. Visit northhempsteadny.gov/townboardlive to join the meeting.

Call and email our TONH Councilwoman Dailmonte 516-869-7706 dalimontem@northhempsteadny.gov

AND

Supervisor Bosworth 516-869-6311 BosworthJ@northhempsteadny.gov

THE PUBLIC NOW HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE! Councilwoman Dalimonte has promised that there will be two public meetings in October and we need to make our voices heard.
