The Park City Dance Team is at risk to possibly not be a program anymore. The Park City School District decided to merge the beginning and intermediate classes with the Dance Team class next year. Doing this is not only unfair to the Dance Team, it’s unsafe for students. About 25 students will be in one dance class and classroom, with extremely different dance levels. The Dance Team needs their own class separate from the beginning and intermediate students because they are advanced dancers who learn at a faster pace and higher level. Putting beginning and intermediate dancers in a class with advanced dancers will make them feel overwhelmed and insecure about their dancing instead of wanting to learn the basics of how to dance. The Dance Team needs their own space to be able to prepare for halftimes, showcase pieces, and refine their technique as a team.
