Help Save The Oscar B. Ferebee Athletic Field to Bring Baseball Back to Green Run!
The Issue
*PLEASE READ THE STORY TO BE FAMILIAR OF THIS PROJECT!*
The field was made as a memoriam after the passing of Oscar Benson "O.B." Ferebee Jr. on May 21, 2010. As the name implies, the field is an athletic field made for Little League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, Softball, and for other baseball-related activities such as batting and pitching practice.
*The OBF Field is located at 1836 Dahlia Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23453*
The field drew in numerous amounts of people when Minor League season came around and it was a great place to see a ballgame. But, as the years went on, the field was starting to become more abandoned. In the early 2020s, and as of 2024, the field was starting to get torn down, with the gates and the walls getting removed to make room for a dog park.
Shocked and disappointed, I was upset that Green Run did not care for its field, unlike Kempsville or other Virginia Beach athletic fields. In May of 2024, I managed to salvage piece of history, which was the field's flagpole that was going to get discarded due to how old it was. Unfortunately, it is not capable of being put back at the field, but the good news is that it is still capable of flying a flag and is made into a keepsake to preserve the field's history.

The more I thought of saving the flagpole, I was thinking of a way to help revive the field to return to somewhat of its former glory with either a renovation, a new scoreboard a new flagpole, new bleachers, and other things you would see at a baseball field. Ever since I have thought of this idea and for many people to pitch in, I also wanted to help out the idea for the dog park, but it can not take up the baseball field. Maybe the additional money that you can donate can also be a way to help make a dog park in Green Run, but not in a way that hogs the attention of the field. Local sponsorships are also welcome to pitch in.
The money that you donate to this page will be taken to the head of Green Run to help restore or renovate the field in its entirety!
The consequences of not meeting this goal would lead to the dog park taking over, and worse, since that the field is big, it serves as a potential place for an apartment complex and we would lose an important part of Green Run history.
