Help save Monkey Junction Pit Stop

The Issue

We are a hardworking family of eight, operating a family-owned gas station in Wilmington, NC. Our lives are deeply invested in this business - we have spent countless days and nights to make our store a success. This business is not just a source of income; it is a testament to our family’s tireless effort and resilience. Our father, who principally runs the store, does not speak English fluently, restricting his opportunities for alternative employment.

Today, our livelihood is under threat. A new Sheetz gas station is being constructed right across our established store. While competition is a crucial part of business, the saturation of gas stations in our Wilmington, NC, community is alarming. There are already three other family-owned convenience stores less than a mile from this sheetz being built .

With the construction of another gas station, we face the risk of losing our customers, and, consequently, our only source of income. Furthermore, opening another gas station adds to an already congested market, potentially leading to an excess supply that may threaten the viability of all our local establishments.

We believe in our community and the need to protect small, family-owned businesses against saturation from larger corporations. To protect our livelihood and those of other similar businesses, we are calling for the halt of construction for the new Sheetz gas station in Wilmington, NC.

Our plea is to defend not just our business, but to preserve the entrepreneurial spirit of Wilmington. Let's keep our local businesses thriving and our community unique. Please, sign this petition and support us in our struggle. Save local businesses, save Wilmington's families.
