Help save Charleston’s Ecosystems by shutting down Lanxess!!

The Issue

The people of Charleston and North Charleston have been victims of industrialization for generations. Lanxess is an active fertilizer manufacturing company on the Ashley River and they are still polluting our air, water and soil. There have been 25 documented releases of toxic chemicals into the environment by Lanxess in the last 3 decades. This constant disregard for our beautiful environment has gone on long enough and it needs to end.

Reports from the EPA state that people living in the 29405 zip code have a higher risk of developing asthma or cancer due to the pollution in the area. There are over 12 residential neighborhoods within a five mile radius of Lanxess. Four of these neighborhoods are within a mile. The families that live in this area do not deserve to live in these conditions. Our children should not grow up in industrial environments. If you care about restoring the destroyed ecosystems  in Charleston, if you agree that industry and profits should never be more important than our quality of life, and if you agree that our children should not grow up breathing in toxic chemicals, show your support by signing this petition calling for the Lanxess Fertilizer plant to be shut down. Free the land.
