The Issue

Imagine waking up every morning, dreading what the day will bring for you and your loved ones. This has been my reality since I witnessed a horrific murder. Instead of moving forward and living a normal life, my family and I are trapped in a nightmare. Our once safe home is now a constant reminder of the threats we face, a place where terror has been inscribed on our very walls.

Since November, my life has been in serious jeopardy. I've endured incidents that no one should ever have to face: shattered windows, threatening letters scattered around our home, break-ins that left our property and our spirit damaged. The most horrifying moments include seeing messages of "dead" graffitied across our house, and individuals peering into our windows at night. The final straw was finding the words "RIP dead" carved ominously into our door.

Despite reaching out for help, resources for relocating our low-income family have been scarce. We live in constant fear, and it's heart-wrenching to see my children's joy stripped away, particularly when they lost their Christmas gifts due to theft.

We need support to escape this perilous situation before it's too late. Relocating is our only path to safety, but without immediate help, we are vulnerable to these menacing threats. It's not just a home we need—it's a secure future for my children, a chance to rebuild and live in peace.

I call upon the community, local authorities, and organizations dedicated to the safety of victims and witnesses to step forward. With your signatures, we can draw the attention necessary to take action and provide a safe environment for my family, free from the shadows of fear.

Please sign this petition to help us find safety and security. Let's show that as a community, we stand by those who are struggling and against the intimidation of violence. Your signature is a step towards giving my family a chance to live a life free from fear and danger. Thank you for your support.

Here is a timeline of how things have been going I was an eyewitness to a murder in 2022. From 2022 to 2025, I lived near  the accused. While he was out on bail, prior to my testimony, he came to my home and also had his lawyer contact me.
I testified on a Tuesday. The following Sunday, my window was smashed. A note was left saying: “One, two, coming for you. Three, four, can’t rat no more.” Because of this, I was placed in a hotel for safety and then moved into an emergency housing unit.
While I was in emergency housing, my original home was broken into three to four times. I was also targeted on social media, including posts showing a picture of my house and offering $100 to anyone who could provide my new address.
Despite these threats, Newfoundland and Labrador Housing attempted to move me back into my original home. I was eventually approved for a new house. During the move, my family had to do most of the work because I could not safely be outside without a police escort, and escorts were only available for limited periods of time.
The last time I returned to my original home, there was writing on the walls saying, “You’re a dead rat.”
Since moving into my new home, the harassment has continued. My windows have been smashed, “rest in peace” has been written, and the word “dead” was carved into my door. Police (911) have been called multiple times, including an incident where someone wearing a black mask was seen staring into my window.
Most recently, my partner was attacked and maced. Following that incident, we were placed in a hotel again for safety. However, after nine hours, we were told to leave and had to return home because Newfoundland and Labrador Housing determined we were not in danger—despite the fact that Major Crimes had arranged the hotel placement
