Petition to Retain Coach Swenson as Football Coach at Brazoswood High School. 

To: Board, Athletic Director, Principal, or Other Decision-Makers

We, the undersigned students, parents, and community members of Brazoswood High School, respectfully request that Coach Swenson be allowed to continue his role as the Football coach at our school.

While we are grateful that Coach Swenson will remain a teacher, we strongly believe that his impact as a coach is equally invaluable. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to the team have played a critical role in its success, both in competition and in shaping the character of student-athletes.

Coach Swenson’s coaching record speaks for itself. His stats demonstrate that he has been a great asset to the team, leading with strategy, discipline, and motivation that have driven consistent improvements and achievements. Beyond the numbers, he has built a program that fosters teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth, preparing athletes not just for the game, but for life.

Additionally, Coach Swenson has dedicated countless hours to his players—arriving as early as 4 a.m. and staying late into the night to ensure they have the support, training, and mentorship they need to succeed. His dedication extends beyond practice and game days; he has served as a mentor, role model, and source of encouragement for all his athletes.

We understand that this may be a decision that cannot easily be changed, but as parents and students, we feel it is our responsibility to stand up for what is right and what we believe in. Coach Swenson has made a lasting impact on this program and our students, and we firmly believe he deserves to continue in his coaching role.

Removing him from this position would be a significant loss to the team and school community. The relationships he has built with the players, particularly with the Class of 2026—whom he has coached since they were in the 7th grade—should not be disrupted. His continued presence is vital to maintaining the stability and progress of the program.

In addition, we ask that no retaliation be taken against students, parents, or staff who support this cause. It is important that students be allowed to voice their opinions and advocate for what they believe in, as long as it is done respectfully. Encouraging open dialogue and civic engagement is essential in fostering a strong and supportive school community.

We also want to make it clear that Coach Swenson has had no part in organizing this petition. This is solely an effort led by students and parents who recognize his impact and believe he should continue in his coaching role.

We urge Decision-Maker’s to reconsider this decision and allow Coach Swenson to continue his coaching duties at Brazoswood High School.
