Help reduce our emissions!
The Issue
Climate change across the United States is having continuous negative impacts on the planet and human lives. We are experiencing devastating storms and wildfires that are destroying property and taking lives.
Our average temperatures in New York State have risen .6 degrees Fahrenheit per decade since 1970. Though that seems minor, everyone has experienced the change in our winters and the severity of our storms. How do we stop this change from getting worse?
In New York State, our biggest producer of greenhouse gases is the transportation sector, with 11.2 million vehicles on the road, according to Environmental Advocates, NY. The legislature has made sure all new cars bought after 2035 are required to be electric. To make this transition feasible, we need more work completed on the power grid and the availability of reliable charging stations to make this achievable. Have you ever traveled with an electric vehicle? The charging stations are often difficult to find and, when found, do not provide a reliable charge. Owning an electric car and reliably providing transportation for yourself and your family is difficult.
The solution to this issue is we need more funding to enhance the functionality of owning an electric vehicle. By signing this petition, you are letting our legislators know that more needs to be done to solve the power grid and charging issues to support our people in owning electric vehicles. Through this, we can massively reduce our carbon footprint and do our part to stop climate change!
