I am a resident of Steuben County Indiana, mother of 3 and deeply concerned about the safety of my children and myself, let me explain why. My ex-husband has a history of violence against women and a pattern of abuse dating back to 1993. I was married to him in 1997 we divorced in 2000. He was granted joint custody of our two children and soon remarried. In August of 2010 he assaulted his then wife, she  left and since that time Mr. Davison has been arrested a total of 7 times and has 8 pending charges in the Steuben County court. These are his current pending cases in this county DUI, criminal mischief, 3 invasion of privacy, (violating a restraining order against his current wife)a battery resulting in bodily injury, another battery resulting in bodily injury in the presence of a child (committed on my son, in front of my other son)and driving while suspended. Keep in mind this is only one county he also has convictions in Kosciusko County and Boone County in Kentucky. Here is why I am turning to you for help, Mr. Davison, despite all of these charges has yet to spend more than 72 hours in jail. He is permitted to work only yards away from my home where he can visibly see my children in the front yard despite the restraining order we have in place. He has terrorized women in this county for over 10 years and no one seems to care. The judge even went as far as giving him a lower bail after he assaulted my son so he could afford to get out and this was after he had been arrested 6 times within 2 years. Myself, my children, Mr. Davison's current wife (whom also has a restraining order) and her children live in a state of constant fear of this man. He is able to live his life, as if nothing is wrong. The story I have just given you is not even half of what this man has done. Why is he not behind bars? Why is he able to work so close to my home? He is even able to do visitation exchanges at his current wife's place of business despite her protective order in which he video records said exchanges. Yes he still has visitation of his youngest son despite the fact that he physically assaulted my son 6 months ago? Why is our justice system failing to protect women and children? Why is this man allowed to continue to victimize us? We have followed the letter of the law, we have tried to be patient and still nothing. He is not scheduled to go to court until September 20,2012 for his first charge that is more than 2 years from the date it occurred, this means by the time he goes to court for his other charges, the protective orders will have expired! Then what do we do? Can you please help us? This is our last hope that by getting our story out there something will be done and other women and children will not have to suffer the way we are at the hands of their abuser. All the information I have given you in this correspondence is verifiable, so feel free to investigate my claims.I am starting this petition in hopes that we can get our story heard and that other victims will be protected.
