The Issue

Im writing a letter to our premier Tony Wakem, about the current state of our NL Health policies concerning our children ages 12 to 16. Please read the letter and sing the petition !! Our children need us!

Dear Premier Tony Wakeham,

I am writing to express my deep concern about policies that may reduce parental involvement in children's healthcare decisions and access to their health information.

As parents, we have a fundamental responsibility to protect, guide, and advocate for our children. We are expected to make important decisions regarding their well-being, education, and healthcare. It is therefore troubling when policies appear to place children in the position of managing significant health matters independently while limiting parental access to information needed to support them.

Parents know their children best. We are often the first to recognize changes in their physical or mental health, seek medical attention when needed, and ensure treatment plans are followed. Excluding parents from important healthcare information can create barriers to providing the care and support our children need.

I urge your government to stand up for parental rights and ensure that parents remain active partners in their children's healthcare. While protecting the privacy and dignity of young people is important, policies must also recognize the essential role that parents play in safeguarding their children's health and well-being.

I respectfully ask that you review any legislation, regulations, or policies that limit parental involvement in children's healthcare decisions and records, and work to ensure that families remain at the center of these important matters.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you will continue to advocate for policies that support parents in their responsibility to protect and care for their children.
