Help Petition For A Dog Park At Raccoon Park
The Issue
As a resident of the vibrant Yonge and Eglington community, I deeply value the importance of shared spaces that cater to all members of our neighbourhood, including our beloved canine companions. Owning a dog in an urban area like ours comes with its challenges, and having a dedicated space where dogs can run, play, and socialise safely is crucial. Currently, our community lacks a designated dog park within Raccoon Park, an area that many of us frequent on a daily basis.
The creation of a dog park would not only enhance the quality of life for our four-legged friends but also serve as a wonderful gathering spot for local dog owners. Our group of over 200 dog owners who reside in the area strongly supports this initiative. We've witnessed the sense of community and friendship that blooms when dog owners have a safe, clean, and welcoming environment to bring their pets.
Dog parks benefit both the pets and their owners—they provide a venue where dogs can exercise and burn energy, promoting better health and behaviour. For humans, it's an opportunity to meet neighbours, share experiences and tips related to dog care, and enhance the sense of community.
According to a 2019 study by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, regular exercise is highly beneficial for dogs, extending their lives and improving mental stimulation. A designated dog park would serve as an easy and convenient way to ensure our pets remain active and healthy. Additionally, the park would be carefully maintained to ensure it remains clean and safe for all users, with set rules and guidelines that promote responsible pet ownership.
We propose a section of Raccoon Park to be allocated and developed specifically as a dog park. By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for this initiative, helping to create a vibrant, inclusive environment for both dogs and people alike. Together, we can make Raccoon Park a place where all members of our community can thrive and enjoy the outdoors equally. Please sign this petition to make the Raccoon Park dog park a reality.
