It’s with a heavy heart we are launching our 2026 Yulin appeal. After 14 years, we did not expect the atrocities to still continue. And, it’s not just Yulin region it’s in so many places in China and beyond that pet dogs and cats are stolen, bred and brutalised for food, fur and traditional medicine.
The landscape of this torture festival has changed dramatically over the years.  The city is heavily guarded and very few activists can access the main markets and back street slaughterhouses. The economy and last year the weather reduced the number of visitors. There are also less big trucks heading in from Northern China.
However what we found with our miracle dog Mary and her pup are hundreds of small dog farms in the mountains where just like Korea dogs are being specifically bred for slaughter. Mary was kept chained by her neck in a small cage forced to breed and then fight to eat bowls of rotting rice.
People at home watching our work like a film think it’s easy to continue to face such horrors and it is easy to rescue. It’s not. Who do you choose and who do you leave behind? Most dogs are sick with viruses and require months of ongoing care. And, the only vans we have to transport the dogs and cats to safety are old transit vans with no a/c.
So why do we continue to go whilst huge organisations content themselves with running appeals and never setting foot in China. We go to bear witness. To let the dogs and cats know we are not alone and to proudly despite the danger wear our NoToDogMeat shirts and take a stand against cruelty.
We have a base with over 700 rescues and our priority is to care for them until they can find loving homes.

Every donation you make, every purchase from our shop helps us care for them and save more lives. We are continuously urging China to follow the proposed route of Korea and ban all dog farming. But even if they do, pets and strays are still stolen and breeding mills offload unwanted dogs to traders.

So for this reason and many more we can not give up until the cruelty ends.
