Our China shelter is falling apart, and we urgently need £7,000 to cover basic repairs.
Background
We started our first shelter in 2015 after rescuing 78 dogs from a truck headed to Yulin. In 2017, the government made us leave Beijing, so we moved to the countryside in Hebei. Since then, we’ve built a home for 700 dogs and cats, all waiting for families like little Judy in this photo.
We don’t just face challenges from butchers and authorities—the weather is a big problem too. In 2023, severe flooding nearly cost our dogs their lives. Since then, storms have caused electrical failures, nightly power cuts, rusting fences, and cracked walls. We’ve been slowly building new kennels, but recently found major cracks in load-bearing walls and roofs starting to collapse. Now, over 200 of our animals in the older part the base are at risk, and we need to make emergency repairs as soon as possible.
We’ve tried every way we can to raise funds, but we’re still £7,000 short.
Julia is on her way to China right now, and we’ll share updates about the situation and our plans live on our social media.
All our funds go toward food and vet bills, so we urgently need your help.
We can’t even consider returning to Yulin this year until we know the dogs and cats in our base are safe. Please donate whatever you can, no matter how small, or support us by buying something from our online shop.
This is a true emergency, and we’re counting on caring activists like you to help.
Thank you everyone #strongertogether
