Rescued from a dog meat shop

Last night, our team in China rescued 11 terrified pups from West Beijing.

For months, small trucks have been circling neighbourhoods outside central Beijing, rounding up strays and, when possible, stealing pets. Dealers even linger near small rescue centres, waiting for chances to grab dogs.We have consistently reported this to the authorities, who ignore our reports. They say they will only   act  if we provide proof of live slaughter.
A few days ago, we came across a clandestine dog meat shop. Behind the premises was a group of concrete-built kennels with terrified small dogs cowering in the corner. There was no food, water, or beds, and the floor was covered with blood.
We tried to negotiate the release of the dogs, but the dealer, angry with our small female-led team, threw a pregnant dog across the floor and started to beat her.

It wasn’t easy, but we managed to leave with 11 dogs all stuffed in a wire cage. They are now in the hospital, and we will give them all the care they need.

Once again, we called the police, who once again told us beating a little mother to death is not the same as skinning it for slaughter. This is what happens when animal cruelty laws are not in  place. We continue to lobby, we continue to rescue, and we continue to care.

None of this can be done without your help. We need your shares, your signatures and your donations. With these funds, our charity can provide veterinary care, shelter and love to the dogs and cats until they can find loving homes.
