Our work in Yulin this year so far has been more challenging than ever. We have nightmares each night, hearing the sounds of the butchers chopping up the dogs. And, as we wake, we see the little faces of the dogs ( and cats) we could not save. 
Despite torrential weather most nights, we are up at dawn and trawl the backyard slaughterhouse in the hope of finding a few souls alive.

After nearly losing all hope, we managed to stop a motorbike with some drenched pups in wire cages. 

We were followed for days by the secret police and hostile villagers, but our small team jumped out determined  to stop the bike. We have three dogs rescued ! It may not seem like a lot, given the massacre of thousands, but it is everything to their poor, terrified little bundles of pure love.

2 of them sadly  have tested positive for distemper, which is ever more proof infectious diseases are rife.

We can't stop, and we won't stop documenting, protesting where we can and rescuing.
