Our team is back in Yulin ahead of the torture festival, and we are sad to report that the main markets are in full swing with rows and rows of dogs for sale. They open early and close late, and business is thriving.
For the past few years, the killing has taken place outside of the city, and the dirty slaughterhouses have become ever more hidden and guarded.
They won't stop this heinous trade, which takes place all through this southern region, but they don't want people photographing or filming. They are currently monitoring and following our team.
At dawn this morning, Mr Zhao bravely uncovered a horrific blood-spattered alley where there were still a few live dogs: a Doberman and some Golden Retriever.
Live dogs are being sold for $4 a kilo, and the dead ones for $15 a kilo.
Mr Zhao approached the vendors, but they became hostile and refused to let us take the remaining pups. They instinctively know we are from animal protection. He will return tonight with ‘the Judge’ and see if they can break inside.
We have dozens of dated photos and videos, so you know our information is current, and our CEO, Julia, will be there herself soon.
We are trying to organise a small local protest.
This update is to encourage you to sign our petitions and, if possible, take a stand outside your embassy or another venue to raise awareness.
And please donate to our fundraiser. We urgently need as much help as possible. We have left behind our 700 dogs and cats in the base to travel thousands of miles to take a stand, and we need your help.
It’s dangerous and upsetting, and we cannot do this without you.
Please also share our posts, our videos, and our updates with the press and anyone you know.
